The League Playoffs are a two-day tournament for the best regular season teams in each region in Area 10E (Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, Moorpark, Simi Valley, Agoura/Westlake, and Malibu). Region 42 sent a total of 27 teams across all divisions to the tournament. Thirteen of these qualified to the knockout rounds: three from BU10, two from GU10, one BU12 , all five GU12, and two GU14. Congratulations to all the teams for their accomplishments!
In Girls U10, Toxic Waste (coached by Nancy Benton)
thoroughly overwhelmed the opposition, scoring 28 goals in six games,
while only conceding two. They defeated Simi's 1st-place team in the
final to win the trophy.
Just like last year, our GU12 teams dominated the League Playoffs. Region 42 teams comprised five of eight of the quarterfinalists and all four semifinalists. In the first semifinal, Eliminators (coached by Matt Crowley) defeated Cloud 9 (coached by Kevin Knoedler), and the second game ended in a victory for Tiger Sharks (coached by Russell Berg) over Radioactive (coached by Fonz Perez). Eliminators then defeated Tiger Sharks to win first place, but both finalists will receive an invitation to the Section Playoffs in Bakersfield in February. Congratulations to all our GU12 teams for such a fantastic display of soccer-fu!
